Implementing a Trauma-Informed Approach to Care
Do you work with clients suffering from trauma? Are you looking for ways to better understand the signs of trauma and help avoid re-traumatization?
In this interactive workshop participants will learn the six key principles of a trauma-informed approach as defined by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA). We will seek to define trauma, recognize it’s prevalence, and respond knowledgeably. Through research, stories, and brainstorming activities, participants will reflect on the implementation of these principles.
Co-facilitators Malaina Poore and Erin Tucker both have backgrounds in mental health recovery and peer-led services and were trained as Trauma Informed Approach facilitators through SAMHSA.
This session is applicable to direct care providers and anyone working with the public.
