Crash Course in Fiduciary Responsibilities

So, you’re a board member—a fiduciary. But what does that mean, really? How do you know that you are fulfilling your fiduciary responsibilities as a member of the Board? Who is the Responsible Plan Fiduciary for your retirement plan and what does that mean? Do you understand and know how to use financial statements? What do you owe to your clients, your staff, your donors, your community?   What information should you be asking about the organization’s retirement plan?

To offer the best possible answers to these and other questions, we are bringing together professionals from Actuarial Benefits & Design Company, Skeen Law Offices, Jones & Company CPA, and The Higgins Group to offer a practical and fundamental knowledge to nonprofits in a collaborative format.

This 2-hour session will include snapshots of the following topics:

  • Fiduciary responsibilities as a member of the Board and as a Responsible Plan Fiduciary
  • Qualified Retirement Plan Options and Plan Governance
  • Financial statements and IRS form 990s
  • Financial policies

This training will be most relevant to board members and executive-level staff.

Management Academy participants can use this training to fulfill their finance Core Competency.
