The Center for Nonprofit Excellence and CFA Institute are building an academy that will strengthen the financial health and management of nonprofit organizations in the region.
The CNE and the CFA Institute partnership will provide board members, executive directors, finance managers and staff members with finance responsibilities with key skills for mastering the financial health of their organization. The Finance Academy will accommodate nonprofits at any point of their organizational development to grow and find an ethical, best-practice approach to achieving both mission impact and financial sustainability.
My experience in the Board Academy was, by far, the best way for me to gain a better understanding of my role as a nonprofit Board member. In particular, as a financial professional, I greatly appreciated the Board Academy financial module which helped me understand the nuances of financials for a non-profit. As an example, I learned about the importance of revenue diversification for the sustainability of the organization. I look forward to the Finance Academy which will create depth and breadth in all aspects of nonprofit finance whether you are a financial professional or just someone beginning to understand a balance sheet and income statement.
We’ve designed the Finance Academy to be flexible and scalable for all organizations by covering the following topics:
