The special events displayed on this calendar are annual nonprofit fundraisers or other events of significant note. Nonprofits can submit up to two events annually.
We hope this will help our nonprofits and local committees plan annual fundraisers – thereby avoiding overlap in busy schedules.

She Started It: ESTEAM Summit
September 23 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Join Charlottesville Women in Tech and Tech Girls on September 23rd, 2017, for the first annual She Started It: ESTEAM Summit. This is an opportunity to bring local organizations and individuals together who are working to address gender barriers in entrepreneurship, science, technology, engineering, art and math (ESTEAM).
She Started It is a groundbreaking documentary that profiles women entrepreneurs as they face the challenges of taking an idea and turning it into a business it in the tech world. Created by women, for young women and girls, it is meant to encourage its audience to go out and learn the skills they will need to be the next Sheryl Sandberg, Oprah Winfrey, or Noramay Cadena.
Inspired by this film and in the spirit of the women profiled, ESTEAM for Girls brings you a Saturday of workshops, entrepreneurship challenges, engineering opportunities, a screening of the film, panelist discussions, career exploration, and a chance to network with local women mentors in the fields of entrepreneurship, science, technology, engineering, art, and math in our community. Additionally, round table discussions will
take place on next steps to bridge the gender gap.
Come join us for an exciting Saturday as we celebrate young women and girls, their talents and skills, and challenge them to explore exciting fields, make new connections, and spend time with people just like them! If you are curious about the future possibilities and careers in entrepreneurship, science, technology, engineering, art and math (ESTEAM) for you or your child, this summit is for you! The summit is open to K-12 girls and their parents. Girls in K-5 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. 9AM-12PM will feature activities for girls grade K-5, and 9AM-2PM will feature activities for girls grade 6-12.
