Title: | Co-Parenting: Making It Work |
Description: | This 4-hour class for people parenting children from separate homes helps co-parents focus on what their children need and don't need in order to thrive even when their parents/caregivers aren't getting along. About 1/3 of children in Virginia live with only one of their parents or share time between parents. This course encourages positive involvement of both parents in their children's lives and gives them tools for effective communication and conflict management. |
Examples of Program Success: | Court-referred for many parents who separate, MCC's Co-Parenting class has been called "illuminating" and "very informative" and was featured on Good Morning America a few years back. Parents who take the class before attending mediation to resolve custody/visitation issues bring a deeper awareness of the need to set aside emotional turmoil for the sake of their children when making decisions that will affect them. |
