Mission Statement

The mission of the Kiwanis Club of Charlottesville Foundation is to support programs and activities that nurture the lives of children with emphasis on the youth in our community.

Overview

The Kiwanis Club of Charlottesville Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was formed as a charitable organization to receive gifts to support the Kiwanis Club
of Charlottesville and local nonprofit organizations or charitable causes in Charlottesville and surrounding
areas that serve children in need. The organization was formed in 2015 and is governed by a Board of Directors serving two year terms. The Kiwanis Club of Charlottesville Foundation presently accepts monetary gifts, and is working to expand on the types of gifts we accept, to provide donors’ greater flexibility and maximum tax benefits.

Key Programs

Program 1
Title:Service Leadership Programs (SLPs) for Children, Youth and Adults with Disabilities
Description:Leadership programs for elementary, middle school and high school youth offering opportunities to develop leadership skills, improve self-esteem, create strong moral character, increase civic engagement and learn life skills through community service projects. Also, providing support for individuals with disabilities by facilitating opportunities for meaningful ways to serve their communities while developing initiative and leadership skills.
Program 2
Title:Cozy Comforts Project
Description:Kiwanis Cozy Comforts is a gift of love and support for children and families in transition. Kiwanians provide backpacks of age appropriate comfort care items and educational/entertainment items to aid in the adjustment children and youth, as well as host families, encounter in the early part of their transition.
Program 3
Title:Foundation Grants Program
Description:The Kiwanis Club of Charlottesville Foundation provides grants for the needs of children, youth, and agencies that support them. Grants cover a myriad of needs in the community and are evaluated and granted based on the number of children that will benefit. This is just one of the ways we can show the Charlottesville community that #KidsNeedKiwanis and that what we do impacts one child and one community at a time, and every day offers new opportunities.
