Purpose Statement

The job of the Volunteer Recruiter was established to expedite and support the work of Friends of Nelson that can be accomplished by non-paid volunteer positions approved and prioritized by the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities:

Develop and write a job description and supporting documentation needed by the volunteer to do the job, including who will train and supervise the position.

Work closely with the Board of Directors in creating strategies for building pool of volunteers.

Recruit, maintain regular contact with and build and maintain a pool of volunteers for staffing Friends of Nelson tabling, outreach, community meetings and special events.  Provide updated lists of volunteers in the pool to the person in charge of the various activities listed above.

Work closely with the Special Projects Contractor, Outreach and Networking coordinator, Web Page team, and Board to assure that volunteer needs and projects are identified, advertised, recruited and filled.

Work closely with volunteers to receive feedback and to insure they are provided support, thanks and positive reinforcement for their efforts.

Report directly to Treasurer regarding tasks, schedule and invoice reimbursement.

Hours and schedule:  260 Hours over one year.  Average 5 hours/week as needed.  Part time.  Grant funded.

Contract: $20 per hour.

Skills Required

Qualifications

Commitment to the mission, goals and objectives of Friends of Nelson.

Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, mediation and computer skills required.

Experience with MS Word and Excel and access to email required.

A sense of urgency and a commitment to timely completion of responsibilities and the success of projects.
