Self Sufficiency Specialist – SNAP E&T Coordinator (Part-Time)

This is a 20-hour per week, long-term temporary position, and is eligible for pro-rated benefits. The position is part of a federally-funded pilot program with an anticipated end date of December 31, 2018.

The Self Sufficiency Specialist – SNAP E&T Coordinator performs difficult, professional, and responsible administrative work in the support and assistance of agency Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients participating in a Federal pilot program in accordance with SNAP policy and research guidelines.  Assists with employment services and educational and training needs through the coordination of services provided through Benefit Programs, the Virginia Community College System,  and local education and training providers.  Performs related tasks as required.

Skills Required

Minimum Qualifications:
   – High school diploma or GED supplemented with additional training and related work experience OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
– Experience with the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, employment services,  case management, vocational or other counseling field.
– Experience working with low income individuals facing multiple barriers to employment.

Special Requirements: 
– Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia or qualified and able to obtain a valid VA driver’s license prior to beginning the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
– College degree is preferred.
