REACH PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

The VOCAL REACH (Recovery Education and Creative Healing) program offers opportunities to individual peers for education, training, and empowerment. It currently provides Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Facilitator training, continuing education opportunities for the Peer Recovery Specialist profession, and promotes the concepts of recovery and wellness throughout the state through workshops, trainings, and presentations.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Serving as a point of contact for peers seeking training and scholarships.
  • Ensuring prompt response to phone calls and email to the REACH office.
  • Organizing and coordinating training events.
  • Coordinate marketing and publicity of training events.
  • Processing training registrations and scholarship applications.
  • Coordinating travel arrangements, including but not limited to: Scheduling hotel and travel reservations, assisting trainers in scheduling travel arrangements.
  • Collecting and remitting payments to the REACH Program Director and Operations Manager.
  • Coordinating material for submission to Virginia Certification Board.
  • Processing continuing education certificates.
  • Coordinating data collection for trainings, data entry for each training, and reporting data to the REACH Program Director.
  • Connecting with peers.
  • Updating and maintaining website as appropriate.
  • Maintaining office supplies and files.

Skills Required

  • Lived experience as a person with mental health challenges.
  • Belief in and commitment to the principles of mental health recovery.
  • Strong personal communication skills, compassion, trustworthiness, and integrity.
  • Self-motivation and skill in working in an independent environment, as well as team environments.
  • Skills in consensus-building, advocacy, and facilitation.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software, WordPress administration, and social media.
  • Prior office experience required.
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license and the ability to travel throughout Virginia.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • CPRS or PRS training preferred.

Work Schedule

This position is categorized as contract, effective immediately through April 1, 2019, part-time at 20 hours per week, non-exempt. Flexibility is a must. Travel will be frequent in this position.
