Description

The Charlottesville Climate Collaborative (C3) aims to build a culture of climate action in Charlottesville and advocate for climate-conscious policies on behalf of the commercial and residential sector. We use a community-based collaborative and cross-sector approach to reduce climate pollution and be a model throughout the Commonwealth.

 

This academic year we will be seeking high-performing student applicants for four paid internship positions.

 

Residential Program Intern

 

C3’s Residential Program intern should be well-organized, able to thrive in a collaborative team setting, and passionate about community climate action. This intern should be people-oriented, creative, demonstrate the ability to engage diverse audiences, and have some experience with public speaking. The scope of work for this position includes supporting outreach, developing communication materials, events planning, best practice research, and campaign development. Experience with graphic design, community organizing, and qualitative research are preferred.

 

Commercial Program Intern

 

The Commercial Program is looking for a professional, outgoing, and ambitious individual who is looking to work with the local business and non-profit community on actions that will help them reduce their climate emissions.  The duties will vary from helping recruitment efforts for the next Better Business Challenge to supporting a developing Green Business Alliance both of which are due to launch this fall. Scope of work includes creation of relevant content and resources for businesses; support for events; assistance with social media marketing for the program; research on best practices; tracking of key performance indicators.

 

Communications Intern

 

The Director of Communications is looking for an excellent writer and dynamic individual who is interested in using their social media content, marketing, and communications skills to advance the mission and goals of the Charlottesville Climate Collaborative this fall.  The ideal candidate would be a reliable, self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills, a passion for good writing, and an eye for good design. The Communications intern will support efforts to tell the larger story of all of the work that C3 is doing to our community at large. Scope of work includes assistance in social media content creation including using Canva for graphics and Hootsuite for publishing; tracking key performance indicators; and assistance with campaigns.

 

Climate Policy Intern

C3 is seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong interest in the field of climate change, energy policy and sustainable development. The ideal candidate should be creative, thorough, and solution seeking. The work will focus on policy analysis and scenarios, with a focus on the energy, building and transportation sector. Possible project areas may include working together with local governments developing methods to quantify climate mitigation benefits and co-benefits. The position could include quantitative and qualitative analysis; the contribution to research reports; and desk analysis on climate change mitigation related topics.

Work Schedule

Must be able to work during regular working hours between 9 and 5pm, though we are flexible with student schedules.

Additional Info

  • Must be able to commit to the position from September through the end of Fall Semester, with the possibility of continuing through the Spring.
  • This position reports to the applicable Program Manager/Director.
  • This is an hourly position and requires 10 hours per week.
  • Regular office hours and weekly meetings with the supervisors are expected; however, occasional remote work opportunities are available.
