Do you want to make a difference in our community? The Prevention Specialist is a new community-based position that will work to implement substance use and suicide prevention as well as mental health promotion in our community. This position involves public presentations, collaboration with community coalitions, and opportunities to provide professional development to others on topics such as mental health, suicide prevention, and Trauma-Informed practices. Position requires effective working relationships with a diverse community, developing relationships, attention to detail, and a desire to support community-wide prevention efforts across multiple sectors. Bilingual applicants are strongly encouraged to apply! Travel within the community required with occasional evening and weekend hours for community events. Skills Required

* High School diploma with relevant experience or Associate/Bachelors degree required if no prior work relevant experience

* One year of experience that includes working with high risk youth or community members, health promotions and education, the coordinator of events and public outreaching, public speaking and presentations, collaboration with community based groups or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Two or more years of experience preferred.

* Must have a Virginia Driver’s License plus an acceptable driving record as issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles are required.
