Description

The Haven is a multi-resource day shelter for people facing homelessness in downtown Charlottesville, Virginia.

We provide respite services for people who are homeless, or living in extreme poverty in our community, as well as supportive case management for guests who are eligible for programs to help get them back into stable housing.

We co-operate a central Help Line for the Charlottesville area to help callers in need of financial assistance figure out their options without them having to call all around town. We are in need of a compassionate, professional intern to answer the Help Line on Mondays and Fridays from 11am to 2pm.

This person will often be the first point of contact for a person in crisis who is reaching out for help. The candidate will ask a series of questions from a computerized decision tree to help guide the caller to the appropriate referral or solution.
