Description

Meals on Wheels of Charlottesville/Albemarle is looking for a communications manager to join our team.  The Communications Manager will manage use of Meals on Wheels digital platforms, including the website, social media accounts, email and other dissemination tools. This person will publish and promote marketing, editorial, and fundraising content/campaigns on cvillemeals.org and across social media. The ideal candidate will have strong aesthetic instincts for digital layouts and publishing and an exceptional eye for detail; a keen understanding of major social media platforms’ tools and distinct uses; and a passion for digital strategy, results, and analytics. This position is also responsible for maintaining MOW’s donor database and providing regular communications with donors. Some administrative duties are also part of this position.

This person must be exceedingly well organized, flexible and fully supportive of the mission of Meals on Wheels (MOW).

Job Duties

Publish a variety of digital content with a focus on producing engaging webpages that are visually appealing and provide an overall rich experience for donors and visitors. Manage all posting to ensure content is on-brand and search- and social-optimized.

Produce all email campaigns, soliciting content from internal sources, and manage review, testing, and sending.

Lead digital execution—across email, website, and social media—of fundraising and engagement campaigns throughout the year.

Own and execute social media strategy across channels as the primary drivers of Meals on Wheels’ messages, appeals, and website traffic—and critical platforms for building brand and issue awareness.

Develop and execute social media campaigns for key days, themes, and priority upcoming content.

Create content for social media accounts and post regularly on each account.

Manage social ad campaigns and other promotions; track and share results for continuous improvement to targeting and segments.

Promote new content, key pages, and calls-to-action across channels. Position content to target different segments and to fit the format and publishing requirements of each platform

Seek regular opportunities for Board and Executive Director to engage with major foundations, corporate donors, and other organizations on social media and curate up-to-date lists of key accounts.

Contribute to overall digital content strategy and inform calendar of upcoming topics, news and milestones, and external opportunities to guide content planning.

Coordinate and support communications projects, outreach, and products as needed

Create and update marketing materials and documents in support of fundraising, donor stewardship, and programs.

Maintain internal calendar and assist Executive Director with internal communications.

Skills Required

Experience publishing content on WordPress, Squarespace or other CMS.

Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

Knowledge of best practices for writing and publishing on different platforms (especially Facebook and Instagram)

Must be a strong communicator, have excellent written, presentation, oral communications and interpersonal skills.

Must be a creative and strategic thinker with good judgment and ability to make independent decisions in a changing environment.

Attention to detail and problem solving skills.

Ability to manage time, deliverables and meet deadlines.

Software Skills Desired  – WordPress ; SquareSpace ;MailChimp or similar email service provider; Donor Perfect; Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Publisher.

 

Work Schedule

20-25 hours weekly.  Core hours of 9:30-11 AM each weekday.  Other hours are flexible.  Occasional nights and weekends may be required.
