The hiring amount will be between $22.69 and $25.48 an hour ($47,191.51 to $52,998.40 annually). Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. This is a full-time, non-exempt, position. This position performs professional work related to the coordination of the City’s Minority Business Program including outreach and technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders, and facilitation of cooperative resource networks for stakeholders in minority business development. Actively participates with the Office of Economic Development team, participating in other programs and projects as assigned.

The Minority Business Development Coordinator position allows the Office of Economic Development the opportunity to enhance existing services, programs, and offerings, as well as create new and innovative efforts to help advance minority- and women-owned businesses in Charlottesville. Additionally, this position will allow for better collaboration with the Division of Procurement’s Minority Business Procurement Coordinator as an integrated Minority Business Program is developed and implemented.

Skills Required

Minimum Requirements:

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, marketing and/or communications, business, public administration or a related field.
  • A minimum of one year of professional experience in business, public administration or marketing/communications.
  • Position requires possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia by employment start date and must be eligible to operate a City vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minority Business Development, policy formation and public presentation experience preferred.
