MARKETING AND OUTREACH MANAGER

Reporting:

The Marketing and Outreach Manager reports to the Director of Operations and works Monday-Friday, 9:15am-5:15pm, and occasional evening or weekend hours as needed.

Position Responsibilities:

• Develops and implements a communications plan to broaden awareness of the museum’s programs and initiatives

• Manages content and production for the museum’s marketing materials, including but not limited to social media, website, advertisements, flyers, press releases, etc.
• Establishes and maintains connections with media (newspapers, magazines, radio, TV, etc.) in the Charlottesville / Albemarle area
• Coordinates VDM’s participation in community fundraising opportunities
• Develops and facilitates relationships with community organizations, including nonprofits, local businesses, universities, and colleges
• Represents the museum at community events
• Other duties as assigned

Related Competencies:

• Strong written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills
• Excellent networking and project management skills
• Experience working with design, social media and website programs, such as: Adobe Creative Cloud InDesign and Illustrator, Canva, Constant Contact, WordPress, Expression Engine
• Creative mindset and interest in working in a collaborative team environment
• Candidate should have an outgoing personality and enjoy working with children
• College degree and previous work experience in marketing required
• Must be vaccinated against COVID-19
