Description

The Department of Juvenile Justice operates and is responsible for the vast majority of local Court Service Units (often known as juvenile probation offices) across the Commonwealth, as well as the state-operated Juvenile Correctional Center, Bon Air. On any given day, the Department has somewhere between 4,500 and 5,000 youth under some kind of supervision, with more than 90 percent of those youth being supervised in their communities through diversion, probation or parole.

Job Duties

Budget preparation/requests, procurement and record keeping, administrative, and clerical duties in the daily operations of a very fast-paced office Court Services Unit.

Skills Required

Minimum requirements are experience working in a fast-paced office setting. Working knowledge of basic bookkeeping/accounting principles and practices. Working knowledge of preparing budgets, procurement, financial reports, statements and record keeping. Ability to interpret and apply basic policy and procedures. Considerable skill in keyboarding and operating Microsoft Software. Demonstrated ability to analyze, solve problems and pay attention to detail. Excellent writing skills. Ability to communicate effectively. Skilled in customer service with a focus on effectively building and fostering relationships with the general public and all levels of employees. High School diploma or equivalent.
