Description

The Executive Director supports the mission and vision of Main Street Preservation Trust (MSPT), a nationally accredited Main Street program, serving as the chief executive officer and as such shall be responsible for carrying out goals and outcomes related to the Trust’s mission, as set by the MSPT Board of Trustees. The Executive Officer will develop and implement plans and programs to facilitate the revitalization of Main Street in Gloucester, Virginia and by working with the Board of Trustees to maintain, manage, and preserve the Main Street Center. The Executive Director, working in partnership with the Board of Trustees, is responsible for the oversight, execution, compliance, and documentation of all internal and external operations of Main Street Preservation Trust. Focus areas for job responsibilities include community and economic development, historic preservation, nonprofit development and governance, marketing and public relations, grant and program management, and Main Street Accreditation. The Executive Director is expected to use nonprofit core competencies for executives to excel in the areas of focus. These core competencies are communications, public relations, program management, board relations, strategic thinking and planning, administration, and financial management. The Executive Director is also expected to leverage the National Main Street Center’s Main Street Approach to guide downtown revitalization efforts.

Position Knowledge and Skills Required

Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of experience as a Program Manager or Executive Director in the National Main Street network is preferred.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, with occasional events in the evening or on weekends.
