Job Summary: The Executive Director of the Main Street Preservation Trust (MSPT), a 501 (c) 4 non-profit, designated Virginia Main Street program, is responsible for creating and managing programs and projects that continually generate long term value for the MSPT and the downtown historic district in Gloucester, Virginia.

Job Knowledge and Skills Required: Successful candidates will possess strong written and oral communication, project management experience, proficiency with technology, and solid organizational skills. The desired candidate will have experience in the following areas: small business development/recruitment, public relations, economic development, volunteer management, fundraising, grant writing, and non-profit management. Experience in historic preservation efforts and knowledge of commercial real estate is desired. The Director must be well-organized, energetic, self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and be able to work well with a diverse group of county/regional/state leaders, businesses, volunteers, and community groups. The Director should have a proven track record of leadership and facilitation of new relationships.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred and/or 5+ years of experience as a Program Manager or Executive Director in the National Main Street network is highly desired.
Of Importance: Economic development, particularly strengthening the downtown business core, is of paramount importance. The successful candidate will be expected to assess needs of existing businesses, empower stabilization and expansion, as well as attract new businesses.
About Us: The Main Street Preservation is a designated Virginia Main Street Program with national recognition for their programs. We have a mature Main Street program and are in search of our next dynamic leader to continue the work and expand the growth of our programs and the impact to the Gloucester Village business community.
