Description

The Center for Civic Innovation (CCI) is hiring a part-time Executive Director to guide the organization through its initial phases of growth and to help it identify its core strategies in the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic.  This is a position for someone looking to fully lead our organization and will be given authority and latitude to execute a growth plan that falls under the larger goals of the organization as set by the Board of Directors.  The Board’s current strategy is for Smart Cville to transform into the Center for Civic Innovation.  You will lead this evolution.

Smart Cville is an equal opportunity employer, committed to inclusive hiring.  We believe in diversity in our work and staff. We strongly encourage candidates of all identities, backgrounds, and communities to apply.

The Center for Civic Innovation (CCI) is a community-based non-profit, regional civic innovation organization helping citizens, local government, and nonprofits solve some of our region’s biggest challenges. Using creative problem-solving methods, technology, and data, we empower citizens, UVA, and local governments to make our community a better place to live and work.  Our mission is to use civic innovation to empower communities to become better places to live. We seek out the change-makers from all communities that are open to new ways of looking at problems, motivated to make a difference, and curious about how data and technology can lead to new solutions.  We build the capacity and create the conditions for these change-makers to deliver real impact.

What We Believe:

No Easy answers: The problems our region faces are complex: they demand collaboration across domains of knowledge.

Open Innovation: Open innovation is an effective way to solve complex problems creatively and collaboratively.

Inclusivity: Impactful creativity is inclusive: ideas and solutions can come from anywhere and anyone.

Tech and data can assist: Open technology and data are critical enablers.

Human-Centered: Solutions to our complex problems will come from building human capacity – a community of creative problem solvers.

Long term and relational: Effective problem solving requires a disciplined, long-term process that is driven by empathy, seeks understanding, and builds trust.

This is a part-time (estimated 20 hours per week) exempt position with a salary of $25,000.  We are prioritizing candidates who demonstrate a long-term interest and commitment to growing our nascent organization.
