Description

The Child Care and Learning Center of Washington, Virginia seeks an Executive Director who will oversee current programming and the expansion of CCLC’s mission and programming to become a Child Development Center. This added emphasis would allow the current program to expand to include coordinating and promoting early childhood and children’s serves not currently being provided in the county. CCLC is poised to expand its program to include those child welfare and special education services which could be provided in county.  This additional focus would permit the development of high-quality local services that allow children to remain with their families and would enrich the lives of the entire family unit. Possible additional service offerings to be explored and assessed:
  1. Mental Health Services for children
  2. Learning Challenges/Needs
  3. Social-Emotional Learning Guidance & Support (in school and     community settings)
  4. Youth development programming
  5. Parenting Education
  6. Home-based prevention services

Job Duties

Work with Board to:
  • Assess needs of current client population as a starting point for program and financial development
  • Undertake, possibly with support of consultant, an assessment of child and family needs currently not served by county providers
  • Maintain current programs and support experienced and dedicated staff
  • Be the public face of the organization, in collaboration with Board Leadership
  • Prepare for Board meetings
  • Maintain and expand community support and funding
  • Plan, renovate and possibly oversee development of space needed to accommodate the additional programming
 Build collaborative partnerships with:
  • Rappahannock County Public Schools
  • Rappahannock County Department of Social Services
  • Rappahannock Rapidan Community Service Board
  • People Inc.
  • Mental health providers
  • Private providers of specialized children’s services
  • Family support services

Skills Required

With the support of these partners develop a short and long-term plan for expansion of services and oversee the provision of these services Desirable experience and attributes:
  • Strong interpersonal and management skills
  • Experience working on a range of children’s services, including issues of learning and behavioral challenges and child welfare
  • Knowledge of the funding landscape in the State of Virginia (including child welfare, child and family services including the area of mental health, CHIP, Medicaid, health insurance, private foundations)
  • Familiarity with federal and state law and regulations pertaining to child care, special education, Head Start and Early Head Start, child welfare and public income and child health and nutrition supports
Understanding of billing systems for child and family services, including Medicaid
