Theological Horizons is a campus and community nonprofit centered at the University of Virginia that supports Christians and seekers locally and virtually across the globe by providing a welcoming community for engaging faith, thought and life.

Position Overview

Theological Horizons seeks a dynamic, passionate full time Engagement and Communications Manager to join our small, collaborative, growing nonprofit ministry team serving a worldwide sphere of participants and supporters.

This Manager will work closely with the Executive Director and Fundraising/Marketing Strategy Leads to meaningfully engage a wide range of partners, participants, stakeholders, and friends across the Theological Horizons community in order to equip and financially sustain both our local impact and expand our global reach.

As a key player in our continued growth and the touchpoint to our most valued constituents, the Engagement and Communications Manager will have a heart for pastoral care, a keen desire to learn and grow with us and a deep affinity for relational engagement, robust development and shared success.

Job Duties

Engagement

Responsible for the management of all engagement and fundraising activities in support of Theological Horizons

● Donor Stewardship: Fully implement all partner development activities on behalf of the organization, reflecting the shared commitment to relationships as the heart of ministry

● Data Management and Reporting: Manage all aspects of the CRM platform and associated supporting technology on behalf of the organization

● Gift Entry: Oversee all gift entry for the organization throughout the year

● Volunteer Outreach Coordination: Resource, support and motivate the organization’s various volunteer groups to support fundraising initiatives (at the direction of the executive leadership)

● Grant Management and Reporting: Assist with the ongoing management of institutional grants

● Annual Campaign Support: Assist with annual fundraising campaigns

Communications

Responsible for the management of Theological Horizons’ communication strategy

● Strategy Execution: Assist with end-to-end execution and implementation of communication strategy across a variety of platforms (print, email, social media and other channels)

● Asset Development: Under the direction of the executive leadership, develop and refine communication assets

● Brand Management: Develop a fluency for the organization’s brand and support the team in ensuring its consistent representation across all mediums

● Project Management: Maintain a dynamic calendar to meet communication deliverables, ensuring accountability across in-house and contract team members

General Support

Responsible for a variety of cross-discipline functions to empower Theological Horizons for success

● Oversight and Management of Financials: Work with the CPA and board treasurer to track, understand and communicate the organization’s financial activities

● Event Support: In collaboration with the executive leadership, plan and facilitate program activities, board meetings and key events

● Human Resources: Onboard and support new student interns, staff and project consultants, and take a lead in weekly staff meetings

● Project Management and General Administrative Support: Equip staff and interns with data, lists, financial expertise and organizational tools needed to accomplish programs and projects

● Personal Connection: Build and enjoy relationships with the many friends and partners of Theological Horizons as a member of a leadership team engaged in the work of relational discipleship

Skills Required

Candidates for the Engagement and Communications Manager role should fully understand and appreciate the role of development and communications activities as they support the Theological Horizons mission.

Qualifications

● Commitment to Theological Horizons’ Christ-centered mission & culture

● Bachelor’s degree with at least 3-5 years of work experience

● Relevant work experience in the non-profit sector, communications, marketing or development

Skills

● Proven track record of excellence in an organization

● Wisdom, high standards of achievement, and the ability to act independently, analyze thoughtfully and adapt to a variety of challenges

● Energetic, collaborative, teachable and highly solution-oriented

● Superior written and verbal communication skills

● Ability to communicate Theological Horizons’ mission and message to a variety of internal and external stakeholders – including donors, alumni, friends, board members, students, & community members – to increase visibility of Theological Horizons’ projects and programming.

● Project management and administrative experience

● Professional computer skills (in Google, Microsoft) and a willingness to learn and employ other technology platforms

● Advanced proficiency with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) program such as Little Green Light or Salesforce,

● Experience in e-mail dissemination software like Mailchimp

● Experience with Quickbooks Online and knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures

Additional Info

This is a full time, in person position and the anticipated hiring range is $50,000-$60,000.
