International Neighbors seeks someone who loves community building, enjoys interacting with the public, and is motivated by the mission-driven work of helping aspiring Americans to thrive- not just to survive- as our neighbors.  This position offers the opportunity to work inside a dynamic and developing nonprofit organization that serves Charlottesville’s refugee & SIV community.  

The Director of Operations is responsible for the day-to-day functions of International Neighbors.  This includes staff management, client relations, and facilities management to ensure smooth daily operations & outreach.

Job Duties

Primary responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the Executive Director to guide programs/outreach.
  • Maintains the International Neighbors’ database.
  • Manages and executes processes associated with new neighbor Intake.
  • Represents International Neighbors at events/festivals as needed.
  • Works with the ED, board, and volunteers to plan/execute special events.
  • Develops strong working relationships with community partners, supporters and donors.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently, and to manage/oversee programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a resource-constrained environment.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse constituency.
  • Ability to be proactive, and to seek solutions that improve upon IN programs/services.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and empathetic attitude.
  • Ability to multitask, and openness to take on new duties as needed.
  • International background/cross cultural experience preferred.

Work Schedule

20 hours each week.
