Description

The Thomas Jefferson Foundation (Monticello) seeks an experienced expert of strategic communications and marketing to lead an agile team of creative staff in Monticello’s Marketing & Communications team. Monticello’s staff and volunteers preserve the structures, landscape, viewshed, and diverse narratives of an iconic American and UNESCO World Heritage site. The power of place creates a space of powerful storytelling about early American history, including Thomas Jefferson’s vision for a new republic and the contradictory and problematic reality of an economy and society dedicated to slavery and racial hierarchies. The storytelling is rich and important but also contested and challenging.

A strong candidate in this role will have more than a decade of experience and leadership in strategic communications and marketing. She or he will possess knowledge and experience of best practices for digital engagement through paid, social, and earned media. The successful candidate will have a portfolio of past work that attests to his or her ability to shape strategies, campaigns, and tactics that tell complex stories to diverse audiences with clear calls to action or further engagement. Candidates who have specific experience in crafting messaging, strategy, and communications in a nonprofit, cultural institution will be of interest as well as candidates who have experience in threading institutional values, mission, and vision in their previous work. To apply please complete our online application, attaching a cover letter, resume, and salary requirements. Position is open until filled.
