Description

Blue Ridge Abortion Fund is a reproductive health nonprofit headquarted in Charlottesville, Virginia with a mission to provide community members with financial support, transportation, and lodging assistance for abortions. We believe that funding abortion is an act of radical care that affirms our belief that all people should have the agency and resources to make decisions about their bodies. In addition to our direct support for abortion care, we conduct education and outreach to reduce stigma and increase awareness.

For three decades, the Fund has sucessfully redistributed wealth in our community through funding abortion. During that time the organization was volunteer led, but we recognize that professional staffing is vital to reaching the next stages of our growth. In 2019 the Blue Ridge Abortion Fund Board of Directors decided that hiring an Executive Director and Director of Development would create the leadership structure that would best suit the Fund’s continued success. The Executive Director started in early July, and the Director of Development will be the second staff member at the organization.

Position Description:

Blue Ridge Abortion Fund seeks a Director of Development with a commitment to abortion funding inside an intersectional social justice framework, and a desire to design and lead an expansive grassroots fundraising and major donor fundraising program.

Up until this point, the board has successfully cultivated a robust development program. The Director of Development will strengthen existing fundraising efforts and deepen donor relationships to sustain Blue Ridge Abortion Fund’s direct service and outreach work.
