Description

Culpeper Housing and Shelter Services (CHASS) is a small nonprofit, located in Culpeper, Virginia. CHASS' mission is to assure homeless and low-income Culpeper residents have access to safe affordable housing.

The Director of Development, a full-time position reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director, will lead development efforts as CHASS continues to grow. As a new position within the organization, the selected individual will have the opportunity to shape CHASS’ development program.

 

Job Duties

The Director of Development will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing CHASS’s fundraising, including the major gifts program, annual appeal, planned giving and special events. Job responsibilities include:

  • Creating an organizational communications plan for approval by the Board of Directors

  • Managing the implementation and operation of Keela, CHASS' automated fundraising and donor management system

  • Developing and maintaining CHASS’s digital presence through email, Facebook and other social media platforms

  • Making presentations to local groups

  • Assisting in the preparation of the annual report and other periodic communications to supporters and media.

Skills Required

A bachelor’s degree and 2 years minimum experience in professional fundraising are required.

Familiarity with the Culpeper Community is desirable. In addition to possessing knowledge and experience in fundraising, the successful candidate will embrace the mission of CHASS and have the desire to get out of the office to build and maintain relationships with new and potential donors and community partners.

Work Schedule

This full-time position will be expected to flex hours in order to attend occasional evening and weekend meetings and events.
