Description

Piedmont Housing Alliance seeks a Director of Communications to develop and lead the implementation of a strategic communications plan, in collaboration with leadership team, to strategically build support and expand our reach with supporters, donors, and clients.

Job Duties

The Director of Communications will:
Develop, plan, implement, and measure a year-round schedule of external communications to increase visibility, resources, and impact, including initiating and leading, writing content, and managing publication/updates, of impact stories and annual report, websites, email campaigns, newsletters, and social media accounts for Piedmont Housing Alliance and Friendship Court;
Develop clear messages, document impacts and achievements, and generate and manage media coverage;
Ensure consistency of brand and messaging across platforms and in printed materials;
Lead marketing strategy for Housing Counseling program and Alliance Management by conceiving of, writing, and producing marketing materials and media placements, including but not limited to videos, brochures, flyers, website and social media content, advertisements, press releases, fact sheets and PSAs;
Lead activities and events in support of communications and fundraising goals;
Provide guidance and oversight of internal communications, including Board communications, staff communications, and support of Executive Director communications.

Skills Required

Qualifications include: demonstrated experience and success leading strategic, high-level communications for non-profit organization; passion for the non-profit sector; outstanding written and oral communication skills with a variety of audiences; working knowledge of non-profit philanthropy and integrated marketing; experience with affordable housing preferred; self-starter with positive attitude, creativity, and ability to execute independent judgment and productivity; Bachelors’ degree in related field and/or related non-profit experience, and two to three years of related experience, including the use of social media platforms and familiarity with the concepts of search engine optimization. Must have strong computer skills. Must be able to successfully pass all required background checks and other pre-employment screening.
