POSITION: Director of Advancement
HOURS: Monday-Thursday, 9am-5pm; Friday, 9am-4pm. Occasional work possible outside standard work hours, with flex time encouraged.
LOCATION: Hybrid work environment based at CNE’s Charlottesville office, working with stakeholders across Virginia.
SALARY: Full-time, salaried position with a range of $80,500-$109,000 and a robust benefits package (see below).
Director of Advancement
CNE seeks a dynamic and experienced Director of Advancement to lead the planning and implementation of all development, marketing-communications, and fundraising activities.
The purpose of the Director of Advancement is to be a visible and people-oriented development professional with a commitment to building a comprehensive program to enhance CNE’s sustainable resources. The Director of Advancement role will develop and implement an aggressive strategic advancement plan and build and lead a small development team of board and staff to leverage opportunities and financial imperatives resulting from CNE’s recently completed strategic plan. Desired Skills and Attributes
A successful Director of Advancement is a strategic thinker and well-versed in fundraising operations. This role requires expertise and a proven track record cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding contributions from high-net worth individuals as well corporations and foundations. The Director is capable of establishing the fundamentals for a growth-focused, professional advancement program to take CNE to the next level of resource development required for sustained and expanded program delivery to its membership. Further, the Director possesses compelling leadership and interpersonal skills that promote collaboration and inclusion.
Additionally, this individual will understand and value equity as an organizational operating principle and be committed to continued learning on issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The successful candidate will be motivated by the opportunity to build and grow a philanthropy program and bring a positive disposition, an eagerness to learn, the desire to function as part of a team, and a willingness to take ownership of tasks both big and small. They will have exceptional verbal and written communication skills and will be a strong relationship builder.

Typical responsibilities will include:
- Manage a select portfolio that includes current and previous donors, new prospects, and high-level prospects and donors capable of giving at major gift levels.
- Initiate strategic revenue-generation from among institutional and family foundations
- Rethink strategy and develop new version of CNE’s Corporate Donor Program, leveraging opportunities for corporate financial support and employee engagement around CNE’s 7 Actionable Principles
- Build strong collaborative relationships across individual, corporate and foundation donors and member organizations from the nonprofit community

Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, salaried position with a salary range of $80,500 to $109,000. CNE offers a robust employee benefits package, including 100% of employee health insurance coverage paid, the opportunity to participate in a 403(b) plan with employer match, and 160 PTO hours available in the first year of employment plus 17 paid holidays. This role will include opportunities for professional development and growth.
