Clubhouse Coordinator 

The Clubhouse Coordinator manages an innovative, out-of-school program called The Clubhouse, hosted at C4K (Computers4Kids).  The Clubhouse uses a learning approach designed to empower middle and high school students from low-income households to become more capable, creative, and confident learners. Youth-driven activities and projects — including audio recording, robotics, coding, and 3D printing — are STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math)-centric, engaging, and grounded in 21st-century skills.

Job Duties

Essential / Main Job Duties 

The Clubhouse Coordinator manages C4K’s group mentoring Clubhouse Program:

  • Help Clubhouse members engage in meaningful STEAM activities and projects (e.g., help them come up with ideas, gather materials, get started, locate mentors/volunteers to work with them, and support their ongoing work).

  • Support youth in planning for the future, including pursuing academic and career opportunities that leverage their Clubhouse skills and experiences.

  • Provide basic computer maintenance, including file management, troubleshooting, and technical support to Clubhouse youth and mentors

  • Weekly recruitment of youth for C4K’s Clubhouse and 1:1 mentoring program. In addition to site visits to parent-focused and youth-centered locations (i.e., schools), this includes building relationships with school counselors, referral agents, families, teachers, etc.

  • Train and support volunteer mentors, ensuring they work effectively with youth. This includes group training, workshops, real-time coaching, modeling, feedback, and (technical) skill development to support a variety of youth and projects.

  • Assists Program Director with program evaluation efforts: data collection, interpretation of results, reporting to staff and providing data/reports to be shared with funding agencies. For example, preparing annual/quarterly reports on the program’s success.

  • Participate in The Clubhouse Network, attending Network meetings, sharing ideas and issues, and supporting collaborative projects across Clubhouses.

The Clubhouse Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Badges (a quantitative measure of student learning) (Co-creation and co-administration of ISTE-aligned STEAM badges that correspond to activities and projects).

  • Supervising seasonal interns (high school and college students)

  • Approving Youth project/activity (assessing whether the project is appropriately challenging for the member/student and the cost of the supplies is reasonable)

  • Maintaining and overseeing the use of tools, software, equipment, etc. in the Clubhouse

  • Maintaining confidential records: Member data – personal information and volunteer data – personal information, may include social security number.

Physical requirements:

  • The ability to sit walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands to operate standard office equipment; reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment; lift up to 25 pounds.

  • The ability to walk around constantly during Clubhouse hours.

  • Ability to operate power tools.

  • The ability to work well under pressure and with deadlines

Level of Education Required (Minimum): Some college; education or STEM-related area preferred.

Work Experience: 2 years proven track record working with youth, in particular, young people from underserved neighborhoods; Work experience in an informal learning environment preferred

Work Schedule

Hours & Travel:

  • Work hours may vary but are approximately:

    • Academic year: 11:00am – 7:30pm

    • Summertime: 10:00am – 6:00pm

  • Annual travel for one week at The Clubhouse Network conference.
