Description
Rockfish Wildlife Sanctuary is seeking volunteer board members to help us grow and expand our thriving organization. If you are passionate about native Virginia wildlife, would like to raise public awareness about our wild neighbors, and help increase support for animals in need, we invite you to join us. We’re particularly looking to welcome aboard folks with experience in fundraising, event planning, and forging corporate partnerships.
We are a small working board that is dedicated to supporting and expanding our exemplary staff. Job Duties
Attend monthly governance meetings & an occasional committee meeting.
Participate in occasional donor tours, thank you lunches, major fundraising events, and education outreach.
Use networking capabilities to cultivate and expand the donor base.
Be a passionate advocate for injured and orphaned native wild animals.
Skills Required
While we seek specific skills, we do so without intending to exclude other important skillsets or attitudes so please don’t hesitate to express your interest. That said, we’d love to have more board members from Nelson County; board members that are gregarious and extroverted, fun at a party; board members with graphic design expertise; board members who love to work a database or write thank you notes; and/or board members with donor cultivation or major gifts experience. We’d prefer candidates with a sense of humor and a personal commitment to protecting wildlife and wild spaces.
Work Schedule
We meet on the second Wednesday of the month from 3:30 – 5:00, usually at the Gordon Avenue Library.
