The Assistant Asset Manager position is an entry level opportunity requiring no specific industry experience in property management, although such experience may be helpful. Job Duties

General Statement of Duties:

The Assistant Asset Manager will be charged with working with the Asset Management Team in the oversight of CRHA real estate assets, maintenance and property management programs.  The principal work of this position is to help ensure CRHA communities are managed professionally with the goal of fostering a sustainable and thriving real estate portfolio capable of accomplishing CRHA’s mission and goals while meeting the long-term needs of tenants and the community.

The Assistant Asset Manager serves as a member of the Public Housing Asset Management Team, working closely with the Asset Manager and other staff members. Reporting directly to an Asset Manager, the Assistant Asset Manager is someone who can take direction, problem solve, support team workflow and often provide front-line assistance to Residents.  They are able to work collaboratively with the Asset Management Team to develop creative approaches and achieve key goals.   Most importantly the Assistant Asset Manager is a person of integrity, accountability, has an eye for technical details and heart for working with residents.

The CRHA Assistant Asset manager will:

  1. Provide administrative support to the Asset Management team while growing a professional knowledge base concerning CRHA and HUD Asset Management practices and procedures.  Duties will include: file preparation and maintenance; CRHA and HUD report preparation and submittal; Work Order intake, processing and tracking; applicant eligibility screening; general customer service duties; and  other tasks as assigned.  The Assistant Asset Manager will be required to work with the Asset Management team to ensure adherence to CRHA and HUD policies.
  2. Work closely with the Asset Management team to build relationships with our residents through community involvement and continuous presence on our sites.
  3. Help identify the key needs of our residents and community, and work to address those needs through agency resources and partnerships.
  4. Serve as the face of CRHA in the community, demonstrating our respect and caring for those we serve.

The Assistant Asset Manager role with CRHA is intended to be a position through which the team member can grow and develop the skill sets needed to become an Asset/Property manager.  The position will involve significant “knowledge base” development through formal training and coursework, industry peer interaction and experiential learning through workplace mentoring.  As such, the team member must be willing to commit to professional development and continuous education.

Skills Required

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED plus
  • extensive demonstrated experience with or passion for working with public housing programs.
  • Experience in a social work, human services and/or relevant administrative fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to receive direction and administer a full rage of responsibilities related to the completion of tasks related to job duties.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to support team efforts for the betterment of our communities.
  • Ability to motivate others toward a common goal.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and problems and arrive at creative solutions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia and a good driving record. Ability to pass a background, license and drug screening.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with issues and challenges related to generational poverty, low income community services, and asset based community engagement.

  • Knowledge of Fair Housing Regulations and the Virginia Residential and Tenant Act.
