Who we are seeking:

CRHA is searching for a mission driven, solutions oriented, high achieving individual that enjoys helping others to join our team as an Administrative Assistant. A CRHA Administrative Assistant is a solutions innovator who recognizes that their success can only be measured by the successes of those we serve – our residents and our community.

Qualifications:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and extensive, increasingly responsible experience in secretarial work.

Job Duties

Performs skilled clerical and routine administrative and technical work for the Housing Division; does related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision. The work requires the exercise of judgment in the application of prescribed procedures and methods to routine and extraordinary duties. May be required to assist in the administration of certain projects/programs, as needed.

Typical Tasks:

  • Screens visitors, telephone calls and mail directed to the Housing Division.
  • Provides information to the public or directs requests to the appropriate organization.
  • Handles a variety of routine administrative or technical assignments.
  • Transcribes correspondence and memoranda.
  • Composes and types letters and memoranda in conformance with Authority policies independently from brief instructions.
  • Operates word processor, copier, fax machine, postage meter and other office equipment.
  • Perform related tasks as required.

  • Work evenings and some weekends
  • Solve complex situations and diffuse explosive situations
  • Approach problems pro-actively with solution focus
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Establish working relationships with residents, co-workers, and other professionals
  • Work independently in a multiple sites setting
  • Use personal vehicle, with mileage reimbursement, for offsite supervision and regular site visits
  • Prepare comprehensive reports

  • Access community resources and form collaborations
  • Successfully work with diverse populations

Skills Required

  • Comprehensive knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment and secretarial techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of Authority functions, organization and policies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of business English and spelling.
  • Ability to establish harmonious working relationships with others.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to organize and perform work independently.
  • Ability to lay out and type complex forms and tables.
  • Ability to make perform arithmetic calculations.
  • Ability to type, take and transcribe dictation at a reasonable rate of speed.
  • Ability to deal effectively with the general public and other employees.
  • Licensed to operate a motor vehicle and a good driving record (must maintain a good driving record and be insurable as a condition of employment). Motor license by the Commonwealth of Virginia within three months of employment.
  • Ability to pass a background and license check
