Description

Market Central is seeking a person who is enthusiastic about supporting local food and farmers markets, by helping promote and conduct two farmers markets at the Ix Art Park. The job requires helping organize vendors for the markets, setting up the markets on market days, monitoring vendors and customers for safety, rules compliance and problem solving.  Distribute SNAP, SNAP match and reimbursements.  Help with collecting and recording data  and making reports to be accountable and quality for future funding.

Job Duties

The job requires helping organize vendors for the markets, usually by email.  Vendor letters are sent by Constant Contact. Marketing is required  using social media to notify customers about the market.  A Customer Newsletter is sent monthly. The Market Central website needs to be maintained. The Lulu’s Local Food digital platform requires upkeep.

Setting up the markets on market days requires helping vendors get into their places, and monitoring vendors and customers for safety, rules compliance and problem solving. Breaking down the market requires  getting people out safely and packing up market supplies.

Distribute SNAP, SNAP match and reimbursements at the market. Help with collecting and recording data  and making reports at market and on non-market days.

Skills Required

The candidate needs to be comfortable in dealing with the public, and should have some experience in marketing, promotions, and using social media. Creative writing is needed for social media posts. Some experience using Excel, Google Sheets, and Constant Contact needed.  Handling and tracking payments and distributions is necessary.  Time management, punctuality,  and working independently is important. Ability to work outside, and be flexible with tasks as they come up.  The outdoor work is somewhat physical (putting up tents, tables, signs, etc.).

Work Schedule

Saturday market year round: 7:00 to 12:30 in summer.  8:30 to 1:30 in winter.

Thursday market, May to October: 4:00 till 8:15  p.m.

Media posts, email, and communications scheduled throughout the week or month.
