Desired skills, perspectives, experiences, and characteristics of new board members
This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about Innisfree’s mission and who has a track record of interest in the field or past commitment to Innisfree. Board members will exemplify one of three categories (or more than one)—1) Parents, siblings and family of Innisfree coworkers, 2) Current or former volunteers and/or staff of Innisfree and 3) Professionals in the fields of special education, medicine or psychiatry, finance, banking, business, law or others that will clearly contribute to the Board’s expertise.
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Extensive professional experience with significant executive leadership accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector
- A commitment to and understanding of Innisfree’s coworkers, based on experience as a family member or professional or volunteer
- Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of Innisfree’s coworkers
Annual Time Commitment (including committee meetings, special events, work outside the board, etc.)
Four 2-hour meetings per year. Additional commitment depends on level of committee participation. Most committees meet 2-4 times per year for an hour, unless a special project is active, and most board members serve on about two committees.
