Board Position type

Development Chair; At Large Members

Desired skills, perspectives, experiences, and characteristics of new board members

The Emergency Food Network provides groceries for three days of balanced meals to individuals and families in Charlottesville and Albemarle County. We are almost entirely run by volunteers. We receive no government funding; our operation depends exclusively on the generous support of individuals, schools, businesses, area churches, and civic groups. Our operating expenses are minimal, so approximately 90 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to program services.

We are looking for a Development Chair to coordinate our donor appreciation and fundraising efforts. Responsibilities could include chairing the board’s Development Committee, cultivating new donors, and working with fellow board members to conceive of and execute small events aimed at thanking existing donors. There is no specific time commitment; EFN will be grateful for any donation of time and expertise.

We are also recruiting At Large board members with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Specific responsibilities are flexible, depending on the individual’s strengths and interests. The most important characteristic is a desire to make healthy food accessible to people who are experiencing food insecurity.
