Desired skills, perspectives, experiences, and characteristics of new board members

We strongly encourage applications from BIPOC, bilingual and bicultural individuals, women, people who have experienced poverty, members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender communities, and from long-time Charlottesville residents.

All board members except the Chair should serve on at least one board committee.  The standing committees of the board are Executive, Finance, Philanthropy, and Governance.  The Executive Committee is comprised of the Board Officers and chairs of each sub committee. Ah Hoc committees are formed as needed, including Special Events.

Annual Time Commitment (including committee meetings, special events, work outside the board, etc.)

This will vary based on committee participation and officer positions but Cultivate board members can expect to spend about 8-10 hours per month attending Cultivate meetings and events, responding to email communications, and other tasks as needed.

Board meetings are scheduled on the 3rd Thursday of each month.  Attendance at these monthly meetings is expected; advance notice to the board chair of an absence is requested. All board members should plan to attend a minimum of nine meetings every year.
