Ian joined CNE as an intern in September 2018 and transitioned to staff after graduating from the University of Virginia in May 2019. In his current role, Ian serves as a hub for the organization, facilitating work across all functions. He is part gatekeeper, part problem solver, part advisor, and part project manager to meet CNE’s organizational goals and advance our mission. In addition to facilitating organizational success, Ian is the day-to-day manager of CNE operations, including administration, finance, HR, and systems management.

Ian is from the small town of Madison, VA and his passion for nonprofits began during his studies towards a social entrepreneurship minor. He realized the value of nonprofits when he served on a committee at the Alliance for Interfaith Ministries (AIM). During his time at AIM, he realized how important nonprofits were to the Charlottesville community. In his free time he enjoys golfing, traveling, spending time with friends and family, and hiking with his dog, Shep. Ian holds a B.A. from the University of Virginia with a double major in Government and History and minor in Social Entrepreneurship.

CNE is excited to launch 7 Actionable Principles for a Strong Social Sector!

Building on themes from 10 discussion sessions with 67 community members, and several leading national frameworks for nonprofit health and impact, the 7 Actionable Principles aim to create a shared understanding of what makes a healthy nonprofit and build a supportive learning community of nonprofits and funders.

We encourage you to check out the site and you can find a recording of our launch town hall here.
