Mia Woods, 38, serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Virginia. She has a passion for serving communities in need and providing consistent, ongoing support for youth. Mia began her nonprofit management career as the Shelter Director of a transitional facility providing sheltering services and resource management for homeless women and children in Springfield, IL for several years before making the transition to youth development services. She has previously served as the Director of Operations for Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois as well as the Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Illinois Capital Region. Mia is a native of Chicago, a graduate of the University of Virginia and Hampton University, and returned to the Charlottesville area in January of 2019. She is the mother of a 13 year old high school freshman and devoted “Gymnastics Mom”, and dog-mom whose number one passion outside of work is reading. In addition to the service nature of her professional role, Mia serves on several community boards, volunteers with Hoos Against Hate (UVA), is a lifelong member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., and a recent graduate of the CNE Emerging Leaders Circle (2021).
