Melissa Thomas-Hunt is Senior Associate Dean & Global Chief Diversity Officer at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. Her research focuses on the factors that undermine and advance the engagement of talent (eg. women and historically underrepresented individuals) in organizations. Additionally, she focuses on the effects of status on negotiations and the use of expertise within diverse groups. She has been featured on www.LeanIn.org and her work examines women’s advancement organizations. Her publications have appeared in Research on Organizational Behavior, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, Management Science, Organization Science and Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin. Previously, Thomas-Hunt has taught at Cornell, Washington University, Northwestern, and Stanford. She received her PhD from Northwestern University and a B.S.E. from Princeton University.
