Member Benefit: Board Short Talks

December 14, 2017

As the end of 2017 approaches, we pause to reflect on the foundation of CNE — our members. Our nonprofit members represent arts, children, education, environment, faith, health, housing, seniors, and more. These are the organizations that enact a vision of Strong Nonprofits. Strong Community. Members uniquely connect CNE to our community and keep CNE aware of emerging needs and trends.

CNE strives to reciprocate and ensure that we are creating value for our members through our benefits and resources. New in 2017, we launched the Resource Database* for CNE members, a carefully curated, easy-to-navigate collection of articles, videos, guides, reports, and templates relevant to good practice for nonprofit organizations.

In 2018 and going forward, we are pleased to announce a new member benefit. CNE is offering member organizations a free weekday one-hour Board Short Talk. CNE staff will attend a regularly scheduled board meeting to facilitate a discussion on one of five core areas of governance: roles and responsibilities, board/ED shared leadership, philanthropy, financial leadership, or board diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Short Talk is not customized to a specific organization, but rather meant to jump-start a conversation on the set topic with a mix of content, discussion, and follow-up resources.

Space is limited. If you are interested in participating in the new program or have questions, please contact Cindy Colson or call 434.951.9044. Thank you for joining CNE to create a strong, vibrant, diverse community.

*You will need to log into your CNE member account to access the Resource Database – a reminder that membership is organizational and your board, staff, and volunteers all use the same username and password to log-in. And of course, we’re always on hand to provide support along the way. See here to learn more about CNE membership.
