2017 Impact Report

Dear Friends,

We are happy to share with you this 2017 year in review.

There is no question that 2017 was a year of tremendous challenge and tumult for our country and community. At CNE, we are dedicated to building our community by strengthening our nonprofits and the people who power them. This work felt all the more important this year.

With strong nonprofits come strong communities. Nonprofits lead the way on the kind of community-spirited work that grapples with local challenges and improves our quality of life. They educate, entertain, protect, and advocate for all of us.

In 2017, we supported approximately 250 member organizations at any given time, we hosted 487 training hours, and we consulted on just about every issue that nonprofits face. We served nonprofit professionals, board members, volunteers, and individuals interested in making our community even better. We launched the Finance Academy in partnership with CFA Institute, we released a Collaboration Toolkit, and we deepened our regional partnerships in Warrenton, Petersburg, and Greater Augusta County. Through all this work, we continued to foster a trusting, effective, and professional community of practice for our sector.

We are excited to share more with you about our programs, projects, and successes as well as our challenges. We celebrate the incredible people, energy, and resolve that keep our nonprofit sector resilient and responsive to the heartbeat of our community.

Sincerely,

Kakie Brooks, Board Chair and Cristine Nardi, Executive Director
