Description

The Development and Communications Associate is responsible for the organization’s income and community outreach, including grant writing and reporting, database management, direct mail, website maintenance, social media, and promotion Foothills in the media and beyond. The Development and Communications Associate is chosen by and reports to the Executive Director and is a part-time position with the potential to grow into a full-time position.

Must love serving children.

Job Duties

Fundraising/Donor Records

  • Maintains up-to-date database of donors and potential donors, including entering gifts in database.
  • Pulls custom reports from the database as needed
  • Creates mailing list for solicitation letters.
  • Prints and mails solicitation letters.
  • Prepares thank-you letters for ED’s signature.
  • Helps in the implementation of fundraising events
  • Writes grant applications and reports
  • Maintains fundraising calendar to ensure timeliness of all income activities
  • Keeps accurate records of fundraising status

 

Communications

  • Maintains website
  • Posts to social media
  • Works with executive director and board of directors to promote the organization
  • Distributes press releases to local media
  • Creates the annual report
  • Collaborates with other team members to develop client brochures
  • Plans and oversees events to promote the organization

Skills Required

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Requires a minimum of two years previous office, administrative, and bookkeeping experience, preferable with a nonprofit organization.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Skill at maintaining a donor database
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Pro, and PowerPoint.
  • Adept at managing a website and creating posts for social media.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with board members, team members and colleagues.
  • Ability to work in a stressful job environment with difficult subject matter and keep own emotions in check.
  • Ability to develop logical and creative solutions and be responsible for making sound decisions.
  • Ability to schedule effectively and make efficient use of time.
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to a quickly changing schedule and handle distractions and interruptions.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision in managing own work activities.

Work Schedule

Foothills is open 9am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. Currently staff are working a hybrid remote and in-office schedule. Specific days and times TBD depending on candidate.

Physical Requirements While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision.

Other Requirements Must have access to a vehicle; possess a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance; submit to a pre-employment thorough criminal and child abuse background check and thereafter every three years, and demonstrate proof of legal ability to work in the United States, and, if applicable, demonstrate registration with the Selective Service.

Performance Evaluation Performance will be evaluated on the ability and effectiveness of the Administrative Coordinator in carrying out the above responsibilities by the Executive Director
