The CNE is a Cooperating Collection of the Foundation Center of New York


Nonprofit organizations and other grantseekers in Charlottesville and surrounding counties looking for funding sources now have access to a valuable new collection of resources at the Center for Nonprofit Excellence—recently designated as a Cooperating Collection of the Foundation Center of New York.

Established in 1956, the Foundation Center is the nation’s leading authority on organized philanthropy, serving grantseekers, grantmakers, researchers, policymakers, the media, and the general public.

Cooperating Collections provide tools for nonprofit organizations and those serving under-resourced and underserved populations seeking vital information and training to become successful grantseekers.

At CNE’s resource center, access is free and available to resources such as

  • The Cooperating Collection’s detailed information on grantmakers and how to apply for grants
  • The Foundation Directory Online with profiles of more than 80,000 U.S. grantmakers
  • Foundation Grants to Individuals Online
  • Print directories
  • Proposal writing guides
  • A trained Cooperating Collection supervisor

Reference materials of the Cooperating Collection enhance the current holdings at CNE which include nonprofit-based books, articles and periodicals not available in other Charlottesville locations.
