The Jefferson Area Board for Aging has been supporting individuals and caregivers through the journey of aging since 1975. We are the gateway for information and support for seniors, adults with disabilities, and their families in Charlottesville, and Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson counties

JABA’s mission is to promote, establish and preserve sustainable communities for healthy aging that benefit individuals and families of all ages.

Volunteers are the heart of JABA – we rely on compassionate, dedicated volunteers to provide support for seniors and students in our area. Below you’ll find information on becoming a JABA volunteer and areas in need of volunteer support:
• Administrative Support Volunteers provide administrative support by entering data and scheduling appointments.
• FISH program (be a mentor to child in one of our public schools)
• Insurance Counselors (help people save money on their health insurance)
• Ombudsman Advocates (stand up for the rights of elders in long-term care facilities)
• Chronic-Disease Self-Management Workshop co-leaders (help people relieve their pain and manage their health issue
