Description

The Executive Director provides the leadership that enables Greene Care Clinic to provide health care services to uninsured, adult patients with income equal or less than 300% of Federal Poverty Levels in Greene County Virginia. Working with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director obtains the necessary resources to support this critical mission. He or she engages with qualified medical and health care practitioners to volunteer their services to patients attending the clinic. The ED also plays an essential role in communicating, directly and through the media; the importance and availability of health care support, the need for financial contributions from business and individuals, and the clinic's involvement in the broader community of free care clinics.

Job Duties

  • Ensuring that the services of the Clinic are clearly communicated to Greene residents in a manner that makes eligible patients comfortable with using the clinic
  • Managing a clinic organization that provides appropriate care, either personally or by referral, and marshals the resources required to ensure every patient is served
  • Meeting with local people in relevant venues to communicate the Greene Care Clinic mission, its services and its need for volunteers and funding
  • Developing an understanding of available grant, government and individual donor sources and using these effectively to obtain the financial resources to meet its mission
  • Maintaining all financial, operating and patient care records in conformance with regulations
  • Creating and implementing strategic, operating and financial plans with the participation of the Board of Directors
  • Working closely with the Medical and Board volunteers to ensure the best use of their time and knowledge.

Skills Required

  • Relevant experience with the healthcare industry
  • Good communications skills - written, interpersonal and public
  • Administrative, including planning and budgeting
  • Knowledge of marketing, especially the use of social media
  • Knowledge of rural communities, preferably Greene County
  • Fundraising

Work Schedule

There is considerable flexibility in the work schedule. The clinic is open four half days, but much of the work is done outside the clinic location and outside clinic hours.

The Executive Director should enjoy serving adults in need, meeting with the public, talking with the media, writing grants, recruiting professional volunteers, soliciting donations, working with the Board, making patients comfortable and participating in the Virginia Association of Free Clinics.
