  • Paul Robeson Fund for Independent Media

  • Newspaper Association of America Foundation

    The NAA Foundation encourages middle and high schools to partner with professional newspapers in their communities and seek funding to start, relaunch or revitalize student newspapers, whether online or in print.   • Great American Bake Sale Grants

    Helps ensure that low-income children receive nutritious food during critical times when they are out of school and particularly vulnerable to hunger.   • The National Wildlife Refuge Friends Group

  • The Dana Foundation Rural Initiative

    Grants professional development programs arts educators in rural areas of the US.  Primary interest is in training for in-school arts specialists and professional artists who teach the performing arts to students pre-K- 12 in the public schools.  Learn more.
  • Save Our History

    The History Channel partners with local organizations to help preserve the history of their communities.  Grants of up to $10,000 are provided to partnerships between schools or youth groups and community preservation projects (museums, historic sites, libraries, etc).  More info
  • National Forest Foundation Matching Awards Program
    Deadline: June 6
    Engages Americans in community-based and national programs that promote the health and public enjoyment of the National Forest System.  Support will be given to nonprofit organizations implementing on-the-ground conservation with a focus on wildlife habitat improvement, recreation, watershed health and restoration or community-based forestry.  Find out more.
  • Head Start Innovation and Improvement Projects

    The administration for Children and families, Office of Head Start invites applications from organizations for financial support for projects that address the promotion of promising practices in the Head Start program and other priorities that meet needs related to the comprehensive nature of Head Start.   • Learning in the Arts for Children and Youth

  • Virginia Environmental Endowment Mini-Grant Program

    Supports community-based efforts to strengthen environmental education and to promote stewardship in Virginia's waterways.  Grants of up to $5000 are given as one-time, start-up grants, with a preference for modest local projects.  Specific focus is limited to environmental education and water quality protection.  See more.

  • Bowerman Track Program

  • Open Society Institute

  • Conservation of Works of Art Grants

    The Getty Foundation provides support for the conservation treatment of works of art of outstanding artistic significance that are part of a museum's permanent collection.     Do Something has partnered with GameStop and together are offering two $500 grants to young social entrepreneurs (under the age of 25) weekly.  The GameStop Grant is seed money to begin a project and the Plum Grant is awarded for programs already underway.  Both are given out weekly.  For more information.

  • The Dominion Foundation

    Supports nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the economic, physical, and social health of the communities served by Dominion's gas companies. The Foundation focuses its grantmaking in five general categories: health and human services, education, culture and the arts, neighborhood and community development, and the environment.   • The Surdna Foundation

  • Barnes and Noble Corporate Contributions Program

    Supports local and regional nonprofit organizations that focus on literacy, the arts, or education (K-12). Applicants must be located in the communities where company stores are located and should serve the greater good of the local community or region. A plan for promoting the program with Barnes & Noble should be included in the proposal, and the organization must be willing to work with the local store or stores on in-store programming. Barnes and Noble also provides limited support to national nonprofit organizations that focus on the company’s grantmaking priorities.
