News and Information from The CNE website 

CNE offices are closed for the week of July 2-6.  CNE will resume normal hours on Monday, July 9. 

Basic Financial Statements - How to read them/how to use them - Seminar July 18, 9 am - 12 pm. Executive Directors and Board Members alike should attend this program to learn about reading and understanding financial statements.  More info.

Idealist.org:  This website provides links to volunteer and job opportunities, both nationally and internationally, in addition to resources such as an online HR Center and Tools for Organizations.     
Kauffman eVenturing: This site provides articles on a number of topics related to growing and developing business and entrepreneurship.

Features from the current issues of the Chronicle of Philanthropy and Board Member include: 
  • A Record High - Giving USA  found that donations in 2006 increased by 1%.
  • A New Form Takes Shape - Discussion of IRS release of redesigned 990 Form
  • Lost and Founders - Founders of nonprofits tend to have certain characteristics that make it possible for them to found organizations, but can also need the board to impose structure and long-term processes to allow for sustained evolution and development.  
  • Through the Looking Glass - Transparency is important to ensuring the public and funders that a nonprofits mission is being advanced. This article highlights suggestions of how to ensure transparency is achieved internally and externally.

The CNE is growing and is seeking a full-time Executive Director.  Review will begin July 7.  Find out more. 

This Organization works to improve the life of individuals who are at risk for or have mental retardation or other disabilities and is seeking people to fill the following positions. 

  • Site Coordinator to oversee operations of residential programs.  More info. 
  • Director of ICF and Day Activity Services to act as operational and clinical manager for multiple community living sites.  More info.  
  • Director of Advocacy and Planning to manage person-centered planning process.  More info
  • Bilingual Parent/Infant Educator to work part-time with families and children to promote healthy development.  More info.
